The term Biophilia was coined by the biologist EO Wilson.  In simple terms it means a love of living things.

The aptly named Biophilia at Chishakwe is a one-of-a-kind safari experience. Surrounded by a lush green garden with a swimming pool, Biophilia is not bound by celebrating just the diverse and abundant plants and creatures of the surrounding area but instead celebrates the love of living things without boundary. All manner of plants and animals are joyously represented in a wide variety of artistic representations. The atmosphere is at once peaceful and invigorating, offering guests a unique blend of nature, creativity, and relaxation. As if encouraged by the bountiful representation of all things living, a number of animals seem to enjoy the area just as much as our human guests: Look out for geckos, tree frogs, chameleons, bats and swallows who all call the area home.

Ready to serve a refreshing cocktail at Biophilia Bar at Chishakwe Safaris.

It is possible to enjoy a few drinks and a meal at Biophilia and at the same time take in a game of pool, or take a dip in the pool.  Other options include darts, croquet, boules, ping pong or a variety of board and card games.

If you have booked one of our Home from Home options then you may well enjoy an evening out or a leisurely lunch in the garden for a change from cooking your own meals.  Our food is all freshly prepared and locally produced as far as possible, ask our staff for recommendations on what is fresh and good. Our thin base, woodfired pizzas are especially popular with children who love choosing topping for their own special pizza creations.  Booking is essential.

Celebrating life takes on more than one meaning at Biophilia:  If you are celebrating a special occasion and looking for a unique or intimate safari venue we are happy to discuss options as to how Biophilia would suit your party best.
