What activities are available at Chishakwe?Chishakwe offers access to some of the most beautiful and wild bush areas in Africa. You will be able to go on game drives or guided walks to see birds or animals. Or you can sit in a hide and observe them while they are unaware of you. Go and take a look at our spectacular Big Tree or go fishing in the nearby Big Dam. Sun down is always a special time in the bush and there are plenty of amazing spots to enjoy this event. Stay on a bit and enjoy some star gazing or a full moon rise over the bush. Part of a trip to the bush should definitely include some soothing down time. Choose to just chill by the pool or read a book under a tree. Nothing offers more tranquility than just being away from it all and having the gift of a little time. Either way, whether you choose to be energetic and active with outdoor activities or whether you choose to just relax and let it all soak in, we have got you covered.

What doI need to bring if you are staying in a Home from Home Accommodation Option?Home from Home options are all located in old ranch houses that date back to the cattle ranching days of Devuli. The houses are simple with cement floors and an emphasis on outdoor and veranda living. All of the houses are furnished to be comfortable and make you feel at home. We provide bed linen, mosquito nets and bath towels (but not swimming towels). Kitchens are equipped with a gas stove/oven, a fridge with a freezer section, a micro wave, a kettle and a toaster. We provide basic cookware and dining ware. Most of our clients prefer to cook outside and we also provide a braai (barbecue) and firewood for this purpose. We provide all cleaning materials for general household cleaning, apart from dishwashing liquid, where we provide a starter bottle. We also provide a starter round of loo paper. In many cases our starter contributions are sufficient for the duration of the guest's stay, but in the event, that you do run out of anything important we stock some basic items in our small shop, or you can bring your own with you. The houses are serviced by our very capable and friendly staff who will clean daily and who will assist with basic meal preparation should you so desire. Below is a short downloadable list in case you need any further ideas on what to pack.

What are the accommodation options at Chishakwe? We have two categories of accommodation at Chishakwe. 1) Home from Home Options These are self-catered and self drive options in comfortably furnished and equipped houses situated in the original Devuli HQ area. The houses are serviced daily and staff can assist with meal preparation. If you are a family or a group of friends looking for somewhere casual and comfortable then Home from Home is a good option for you. 2) River Camp This option is the more traditional safari option. Two guests share a thatched chalet with an ensuite shower bathroom. There is a central area with a swimming pool, bar and lounge area and a fire pit overlooking the river. Meals are served in the dining room. The package includes all meals, local drinks and the full time services of a professional guide for walk, drive or fishing activities. This includes night drives. Activities are bespoke and we work to ensure that you are doing what you want to be doing for as much time as possible. We do not have set time activities (unless you want us to). If you are looking for a safari where you just want relax and enjoy, and we do it all for you, then this is a good option for you. Further information and pictures for both options can be found in the Accommodation section of our website.
